This is a great site to waste an hour surfing.
http://www.ndbc.noaa.gov/rmd.shtml

Find your area map and the data buoys near you. some of them give data every hour, wind wave temp.
In the Gulf, there is data from many oil rigs.

In NJ, I use NDBC station 44065 44025 and 44066

Waste an hour???? I have wasted years on that site.

I like the section where you can look at the conditions reported by ships all over the world.
