Obamacare is dead

On Friday, December 20, 2013, ObamaCare died. The president announced that if your health care plan was cancelled as a result of the requirements of ObamaCare, you are relieved from having to obey the individual mandate to have health insurance. He also said that a simple catastrophic policy would suffice if you chose to get one and that he would make them available through the exchanges. (In other words, if your policy was cancelled because it was not sufficiently comprehensive, you can buy one even less comprehensive and that will be okay).

But the big news, buried in his Friday afternoon press conference is the retreat from the individual mandate. Right now, the retreat only applies to individuals whose policies have been cancelled, but inevitably, next year, when cancellations of group plans cascade down on the system, these folks as well will be exempted from the individual mandate. Obama can't exempt those with individual policies that were cancelled without exempting everyone who has been cancelled. Its not tenable politically. Either he exempts everyone or he can't exempt anyone. For all practical purposes, the "Affordable" healthcare law is dead.

That is because you guys are assuming the house is crumbling. In fact, I believe they are going to use the inevitable chaos of 90 million Americans losing their employee based health care in 2014 to force a single payer system through medicare.
I believe that was their agenda from the get go, and the chaos will give them the ability to do it as an emergency measure.
Very little of what you see is not been planned.
We now have an Orwellian Govt. and they are not going to give up power, in fact they will insist it increases each year.

Willy, as much as I'd like to argue with you, given the past record of the present administration, I simply cannot. You may very well be right. And the excuse they will use is that so many small insurance companies went out of the healthcare insurance business (because of the mandate) that they are now forced to go to a single payer system because it's the only game in town and, after all, everyone needs health ins.

The real problem is there are so many different permutations to be considered that it's really impossible to know what, exactly, they are planning. It's like waiting for the other shoe to drop.

How does it go away? It can't. Willy is 100% correct. I always thought the mandate alienates a larger group than the legislation was purported to assist in the first place. The rollout was atrocious and the reality of governments inability to be efficient.

Three cases have come before three different Federal Judges the past few months, on NSA spying, on immigration and on Obamination Care. All three of these judges have stated that the administration is blatantly acting lawlessly, and that the government has become an Orwellian nightmare. Two clinton appointees and one H.W. Bush.
The 2014 elections for the senate are going to be some of the most important in our nations history.
What our generation leaves our kids hangs in the balance

Chum, that is exactly what happened when Soviet Russia crumbled. Putin and a couple others deliberately helped destroy Russia, just so they could take control and mold it into what they wanted. Now they rule with an iron hand and no one saw it coming until it was too late.
