Maybe the former owner took it out?? Mine was a 76 and had no fuse box either but a bunch of fuse holders that someone added?? I ended up rewiring the whole thing and added my own box.

after doing some re-con I found the hot wire it went to a 4 switch rocker panel it looked to me that the other instruments were wired in to the accessories switch, now if I add my gps should I wire the hot to that accessories switch?

doubledee first of all Welcome to the sight (and madness) I too have a 78 with a lot of the original wiring, gauges, switches etc. Some I have replaced and added a fuse panel with a dedicated pos. and neg. But originally main power was fed to ignition switch then looped through fuses to accessories such as lights, horn, blower etc. all behind the switch panel.
Hope this helps. ![]()

twhrider2 thanks, there is a newer panel with 4 rockers switches , it looks to me that the main positive wire goes to it and the vhf , bearing compass, are tied in to the accessories switch , does this sound right to you, to be honest I never see anything like it , on other boats I owned I had positive fuse block and a negative block, any help i'll take it!

I've set up 3 of these boats (listed below) and I strip out all the boat's wiring and replace w/new...the motor's wiring harness I leave alone...sounds like really extensive work, but not so much...new fuse block under the dash and all comes from that...bring an over sized supply wire from battery to the new block and done...

I have to trace the wires to and from the fuel tank gauges and double check the others but from battery forward the wires look simple now. I have not even sat in the cuddy and looked at the back of the bulkhead to see what's there but it more than likely is hitting the bricks regardless to modernize it. Lance 1977 v20 |
