Engine wont start

Thanks for your replies. The engine did initially turn over, however when I switched off then back on there was nothing, not even a click from the starter motor. All the electrics seem to operate, I can raise and lower the inboard volvo penta engine in and out of the water, work the water pump etc. I would be surprised if the battery didnt have the power to turn over the engine, this is why I thought more about the starter motor (even with little power in the battery I would have thought I would here the solenoid coil on the starter clicking)?
