I am wondering if it is ok to run (shift engaged) with the choke slightly open. This motor has been sitting, and if just left to idle or trying to run it, it will die and I have to keep priming it to keep her running. With the choke open ever so slightly, basically lifted from unlock makes all the difference in the world.
I have someone that I am going to ask to look at her in the next week or so, but I want to use her in the meantime.

NO it is NOT ok to operate the engine with carburetor problems. You may still be lean at various rpm's/ throttle settings and you may burn up a piston.

Agreed, nothing above an idle Might be OK. If any one of those holes are being starved for fuel damage could ensue and it can happen within a few seconds.

Advise taken, I will keep it dry until fixed.
