Default opinion needed: Yamaha or Honda

I am going to be purchasing a new motor for my boat. I have access to both the Yamaha and the honda four stroke.

Due to our tree hugging, animal worshiping government, two strokes are not really an option here.

So my question is simply this: which one is better? I will be using the 150 for better gas mileage, and the ability to use it for trolling.

any opinions?

Yamaha, hands down! The 150 is one of Yamaha's better engines, the local boat taxi put over 5000 hours on their 150s, when they sold them, I checked compression and leak down, they were still within spec of new. The Honda doesn't have that good of a reputation around here. parts are expensive, and they corrode pretty bad. Weight is pretty close to the same for each (480 lbs). The Yamaha is a pretty strong 150 as well, supposedly making close to 165 hp. It may come down to which dealer you like.

Of the two my vote would hands down go to the YAMAHA as well. For a 150 for a V-20, I would choose a ETEC myself for weight.

Etec is only 50-75 lbs lighter

I'd rather carry less beer and know I'd get home on its own rather than being towed

Why not?

Yamaha HPDI engines meet all EPA emissions requirements.
