Willy,
From experience, getting power back on takes some of the pressure off. You can stand down a little and start doing what you need to to get things fixed back up. I really feel for all of those that lost so much. I never go anywhere much to compare, but the NJ coast looks remarkably similar to Florida. Too many houses built right on the water. Speaking from experience..you are not going to like the next few years of property insurance premiums. Glad to see you and family made it through OK. Damn shame about Sr. Bert and the election.
Hang in there brother.

Any opportunity/excuse to raise the premium. (Real or imagined.)

Sandy did a ton of damage across a bunch of states and because the insurance companies are nationwide, you are correct. Rate Hikes Coming.
In Florida, insurance companies are using lots of excuses to raise and cancel folks. Insurance companies send out peeps to evaluate and take pictures of real property. Better not have a old looking roof, crack in the block or paint peeling. They will cancel you in a NJ minute. LOL..

It wasn't to bad in Florida until 2004 when we got hit by 4 hurricanes in 1 year. Then they went sky high.
