Default I Need Help Removing Johnson Power Tilt and Trim

Hey all,

I have an older (1980ish) 140hp Johnson. The power Tilt and Trim is bad. I tried to remove it. I got all six bolts out but can not get the main piston rod out. I took off the two c pins and thought it would just push out but after several attempts with a hammer trying to beat it out it would not move. Am i missing something?

Thanks!

The pin is frozen in place. It takes a combo of heat and PB blaster to get it out and maybe a impact hammer.

Be careful hammering on it. The last thing you want to do is mushroom the ends. At a last resort you may be able to get a sawzall in there and cut the pin on each side the ram. Then you risk breaking the flanges when you attempt to hammer the remaining pieces out. Heat the metal surrounding the pin not the pin itself.
