Just as a security measure i tether my muffs to the trailer. Too many times someone else needed the hose and they took the hose off the muffs and left the muffs on the lower unit. Caught it all but once and luckily that time another boater at the ramp let me know they were still on.

At least with them tethered to the trailer when you back the boat off they stay with the trailer.

the Yamaha flush is under the cowling and you don't have to run it when flushing, i love it!!

its better to run the engine while flushing, it allows the thermostats to open and water to completely flush the engine. The vibration and heat from the engine tend to help as well. Flushing without running is better than not flushing, but I'd rather run them

actually, i try to do both. i run on the muffs for 5-10 minutes and then through the port with salt away for 3-5 minutes

do you guys think the flushing additives do any good? or do they just make us think we are doing good?

Some of the early flushable motors did not flush the lower unit and water pump, so be mindful of which you have...I'm like Spare...use the flush if ya wanna, but run 'em on the muffs too for the best clean out...
