Checking/inspecting the transom is highly suggested. Looking for decayed wood, rot, etc.
Building up for a 25" should be considered a transom rebuild unless the existing stuff is in almost perfect condition.
Using a jack plate for a 25" in a 20" situation should be considered only if the existing transom is almost perfect given the extra torque applied.
Thanks for the reply I have the cuddy but did not know it was rated for 240 Learn something new everyday....Transom Is Like new rebuilt 2 years ago. Makes me feel a little better looking at Jack Plates instead of rebuilding the transom.

I was more concerned about the additional weight and it pushing the stern down....I know there is about 100 lbs or so of additional weight with the 200 evinrude 200 from the 84 140 rude that was on there.....

This is a great site and I hope to contribute half of whatr I have learned back in the future
