Lightbulb trex/hitch rod rack

Here's a pix of somethin I whipped up with an old trailer hitch and a piece of trex lumber.
screwed 2 layers together(make sure you don't screw down layers where the rod holes will go),
Drilled a hole for the bolt in bottom layer and wider hole in middle layer to accomodate the bolt head
bolted to hitch where the ball would be,
screwed in 2 pieces of angle aluminum to keep it from spinning,
then added another layer on top (hides the bolt head).
Use a spade bit to drill holes for rods.
Routed for smooth edges.

This one worked out to be the perfect height on my Explorer, level with bumper. Glass opens with rods in place and gate opens without the rods.

I think the object of the post was to show that he made it himself...and that anyone can make one out of the materials he used if they follow his directions.

ooh, ooh...me next, me next....

Here are the ones I made for my rack. Heres what I got in em.....

A stick of PVC, hose clamps, $8 worth of SS fastners, black Fusion paint......works like a champ. I have a hardware store so I think Im about $12 into this rod rack......

I needed something to get my rods out of the way with a truckbed full of coolers and speargear.......

No doubt!!! Here's a horror story for ya.......

My buddy had his rods in the back of his truck and tried to haul azz when the light turned green. The J-bolts holdin his tool box down weren't tight enough and the entire tool box slid to the back and crunched all 15 of his rods in half.......OUCH!!!!!
