Default V-20 mako

It was definitely V-20 weather Sunday so I cruised out of Barnegat inlet at 6:00AM. Destination; Resor wreck 32.5 miles off. This is a trip I'll never forget. Just two of us, my most recent fishing partner Ross and I, were into sharks on the second spot I tried; We honestly caught about 12 blue sharks and one small mako. Then we made a move to another area not to far with some contour and depressions. When I got their I saw some weed line and a slight oil slick. Time was around 3:00 so this would be our final spot of the day. After an hour there was nothing, not even a blue shark. Then around 4:00 the blue sharks showed up. I said oh well don't worry we will be leaving soon so we dealt with these blue dogs; let me tell you, almost all of them were at least 175 lbs or more. It was time to head home so we tossed in the rest of the mackerel and two blue sharks off the stern appeared and were fighting over the bait. I started to reel in the rods and saw the far rod going off; I said well these blue dogs found the last bait. WOW! the explosion! A mako jumped about 15 feet in the air twice with the leader hanging out of its mouth!!!!!!! The rest is history. My first trip offshore with my V-20. My favorite picture is the mako laying inside a 20' boat. Well I was happy to find Viking Village still working so i could get him out of the boat, we had a struggle getting him in.

Fantastic!!!

Sharking is on my V20 to-do list.
I got Mahi last year, now I need BFT and a Mako.

Was that Sunday? I knew I should have changed plans when the forecast went to 2ft or less. I stayed inshore for NO stripers, NO fluke, and a few seabass.

left Manasquan Inlet at 6 am it was dead flat. I had already commited to having my buddy back at noon so I didn't top the tank. I kept saying, "you smell that? That's the tuna we could be grillin'"

The area of the Princess wreck has bluefins. My brother was out Friday on a bigger boat, they had a screamer for about 30 second and lost it. That was it for the day. Other guys were hooking up too.

The Resor can be a good place to troll BFT also.

Congrats, That's a trip to be proud of.

Yes that was Sunday 10 2012. I drove my truck over to the commercial dock and ask if he could help; he said yes, its the end of the day so get here with the fish asp. Pulled up to the dock and he got his fork lift to get him out of the boat. He said I guess you want a picture too why yes well how are chances of weight too. Look I will even gut him for you to,great all for $30.00 with ice and put him in the truck . fantastic.
