Am with you Willy, I had a Trenton fireman and a paramedic with me!!!!!!!!!!! [just lined up that way for that trip] I got to tell you I pulled in the boat ramp and saw a beautiful v-21 behind me and it was Bennet Greene I just had to ask him are you fishing alone ??????????? Yes he was and he did it all solo! All I can say is am looking forward to Barnegat Bay rendezvous. Everyone I met in person on this site are super people. |

Oh I trailered and went solo for decades. It was not to bad with my two V20's. With this big Hydrsport it is a lot tougher, not as much the launch as the retrieve. If I power up the trailer I have no way to get down off of it to come and hook up the cable and winch it in the rest of the way. The V20 I would slip down off the bow end hook up and go. Especially easy after I removed my rail from the bow. FishBones is a good foot and a half taller with a rail and flair. With my bad knee it is too high. Also the ramps I use are not conducive to launching and lining your boat to a pier. There are none. Atlantic Highlands is very wide and the piers are out and away from the concrete launch. Keyport is like launching down a muddy tunnel with no piers and high walls on both sides, also narrow. Both ramps require you to launch, start the motor and back off and pull back and come around to a pier away from the actual ramp.

Willy - long admired the Hydrasport, almost bought one, liked the ride. Step up - lost your phone # on my I phone - please send an email to me at [email protected], or call me again so I can save it. Good to meet you at the ramp - thought I was a fairly good striper fisherman, till I saw your catch at the dock..... |

I agree willy, I use to go alone all the time in the V, but the Ox is way different! I just missed a nice day of fishing on Sunday as no one could go Hoping to go this up coming weekend? Kenny is back from vacation now , but not sure on boat as he needs knee replacement, SOB getting needy at his young 76 years LOL

There's a ramp around the corner from Crabby's Bait & Tackle that I seem to remember as being easy to handle alone. Also, the ramp at Bry's Marina - in Neptune ( Belmar ) is easy, and the guys there are mostly decent about grabbing a line when others are solo. I do. I often fish solo because I like it - no one to " baby sit " ..... too cold, too hot, no fish, let's go back, lets stay out, sea sick, etc, etc, etc. I work all week to fish as I like on the weekend so that's my story. I do have a few key guys that I'll take with me - my 18 year old son being # 1, then just a couple of others. |
