Yea I have the structual filler down pat! I even keep scrap cloth so i can chop it up and add to my cabosil and resin, its strong as all get out. I kinda knew how to make the homemade fairing compound but didnt know ratio( I didn't want to make it to "lite") thanks for everyone's help.

Should I switch to a vinylester resin to make my fairing compound? Or stick with poly?

What am I doing wrong? My fairing conpound seems to pulling like its gritty? Its not creamy at all and pulls real rough. Am I adding to much micro ballons? Im mixing the compound to proper consistency using the micro ballons and not using cabosil at all. Should I use cabosil to thicken a little and then add the micro ballons to finish thickening to my consitency? Thanks fellas!!!

this may sound crazy but Poly resin mixed with bondo filler will work too. i've used bondo added to my resin with no bondo hardner just little extra resin hardner.

try either 3:1 or 4:1 ratio MB to Cabosil

Bondo is poly based correct?
