Default Still need help - 94' Evinrude 175HP

I made a quick video, (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aGc3E...=youtube_gdata) which I hope can present my question better than I have in previous posts. My problem is that I can't lift the powerhead off the midsection. Skools had previously said "the powerhead adapter is coming off with the powerhead and it looks to be bad". Do I just need to use excessive force and pry this rubber adapter off the powerhead?

Thanks,

Aaron

REMOVE the 3/4 Steering arm bolts. They need to come out to remove the powerhead.

i think you need to pull those bolts, dont know for sure with the 94 but the service manual says i need to for my 78 johnny 175, and i know the blocks are the same all the way to 91.

not sure on evinrude, but on mercs, the steering arm bolts on a plate between the block and mid-section. i appears in your video to be one piece, so i think kam & Orlando are right. do you have an exploded view parts breakdown of your engine, than should show what you need to know. might want to do search and pick up a omc manual for your specific engine

Im no mechanic by any means, but those bolts have to come out. That rubber acts as a vibration dampner. the only other possible way is to remove the 1 1/8 nut that holds the steering pivot shaft on and pull the upper steering armatur with the powerhead. I took my 78 apart like that to put it on an old sea drive bracket those 2 top 3/4 bolts should come out. but that was on a 78' motor.

Looking at the vid it's hard to tell... I wish u were closer as I'd be more than willing to look at it in person.... I have to say I'm in the "get a manual" crowd..... I've been bit in the arse before from taking something apart how it looks like it should just to have something stupid break that I couldn't see.

Possibly a visit to your local dealership, buy something, oil, or whatever, and ask for a look at their manual or a printout from alldata.

Get an Evinrude Service Manual. It will be the best $40 you'll spend. Not sure if this is the right manual but...

http://www.ebay.com/itm/1994-Evinrud...item27c2956033

Way cheaper than repairing something you break. Just saw the exploded view of my Merc, and phat is right, you will see all of the parts with pretty good written descriptions .

Got it! Got the bolts removed. They were stuck to the rubber and didn't seem like they wanted to come. I'd turn them, but they'd spring back into place. Had to turn a little further with a pipe on the end of the socket wrench.

That video definitely worked! I've noticed you get better feedback when you include pictures, and now even more response when you post video.

Thank guys.
