can i use a 292 straight six out of a old chevy truck as long as i change the freeze plugs and use marine gaskets and dirtibutor and can i still use the same out drive

what was in it before?? most ran chevy 250,i used a chevy 350 out drive but had to have it rebuilt with the right gear ratio

The 292 is taller than the 250, you will need a longer exhaust bellows from the elbow to teh exhaust pipe. Way back when, I wanted to swap in a 292 and use a four barrel Q-J on it(the factory intake will accept it if you pull the adapter plate off). cam shaft might be a bit different, but first of all, make sure the motor is worth messing with, they haven't made them in quite a while

mercruiser actually put out a few... I think they were around 200 hp
I had a 292 that I put in a suburban.... GOBS of torque.... Make sure that either it will accept the front motor mount from the 165 or that you can use side mounts in your hull. |

it had a 250 but the guy i got it from is a lil shady supposed to be a new block and internals looks clean but just not to sure

smoke i would have to figure out how to make those side mounts mine is front and rear mounted

ok so its doable is what im seing and even a 5.7 or 5.0 is doable engine tag says motor and drive no more than 950 lbls together im gonna get it weighed out both ways but probably go 305 or 5.0 whatever you wanna call it
