Default Shifter problem

Had my '73 V20 out crabbing the other day when the throttle control started acting up. The shaft was moving in and out and a plug with a spring fell out of the back of the unit. The manuals don't have a parts diagram down for that assy. All ideas are welcome. I will also be checking local boat shops. Thanks in advance.

What motor do you have? year horsepower make model? Or is that an aftermarket control box?

Check out boats.net in the outboard parts section there are exploded parts diagrams. That may show you how to put it back together.

Talking Get 'er done!

I got brave and took the control apart and found the loose part laying in the bottom. All back together and working fine. Thanks for the support.

Went to boats.net and couldn't find anything. Maybe I am not using the right description. I've tried throttle control box, remote throttle control box, etc. Any ideas? I would like to find a diagram of it.
