Default Mocksville fly in

Went to Mocksville NC this past weekend with my father to a fly in(we drove). Pretty nice planes showed up. Airport host were awesome. They had lunch(hot dogs and brats), ice cream, several open forums and technical discussions. Lots of nice friendly people and a blue grass band. had a good time with my father(he's a prop nut), I like airplanes, but its another hobby I don't have time or money for. I'll just be happy admiring them. Here's a few pics

here's the photobucket link for the rest

You probably drove past my house. Should'a stopped by. I could have turned you on to some good BBQ. Almost as good as Red Barn BBQ.
Actually I was busy playing in the dirt from Sat - Monday running 200ft of water line and installing 2 hydrants. Had to take off work Monday to finish up before the rains. Came back to work so I could rest.
Cool planes. But I have to admit - plane scare the begeezers outta me. Hopefully I will never fly again. It just ain't for me. For the record, I'm not scared of heights, just planes. I've flown maybe half a dozen times and swore it off after one bad one. We hit some turbulence and the captain must've been lowering altitude to get out of it. Had about 75% of the people on the plane thinking we were going down.

Cool

Damn, missed that link. It's starting to look like an airplane... completely awesome!!!! Well done to all the guys at the skunk works.

BR, I agree with you on the "not flying again if possible" approach. I used to fly all over the US for a company I worked for... was a member of United's 100,000 mile club 2 years running. Had several close calls... Now I'm earthbound unless there is a family emergency... and I like it that way.

I've always heard that if you want the IRS to show up at your door, buy an airplane

Looks like a fun way to spend time with your Dad.

Everytime I mention to my wife that it might be fun to get my pilots license, she doent even acknowlegde that I spoke the words.

If I were you, I'd assume that's a yes ya know, that whole better to ask for forgiveness than to ask for permission thing, you can come back with that "well, you didn't say I couldn't take flying lessons?". Let us all know how that works out for you, BTW, have fun sleeping in the V

Like Destroyer, I've had my fill of commercial flying...hope I never have to answer that cattle-call again...

But these planes are REEL FLYIN' to me!!...several years ago, I had the opportunity to do some aerobatics in a Pitts w/a pilot who knew how to handle one...he liked to fly upside-down, A LOT!!...hammerheads, barrel-Rolls...stalls, drops the whole deal...an afternoon I'll never forget...would I do it again today??...inna HEARTBEAT!!...
