 Actually, that may or may not be the case.
  It's true that if you have a buyer, the parts are worth more than the whole...  but the problem is finding a lot of buyers for the items.  I've parted out several boats in my time.  In fact, for a while I was doing it as a living, not as a hobby, so I know a little bit about what I'm talking about.  You'll have to remove the items, clean the items, store the items, constantly advertise the items, be available to show and sell the items,  etc, etc, and etc.   The fact is that if you can sell the whole thing as a one off sale, you'll be much better in the long run.
