Drinking and driving a motor vehicle on land is obviously wrong and dangerous, but drinking and driving a boat is worse. Tests have proven that being out on the water for a few hours or more affects a person's senses greatly. The combined effects of wind, sun, waves, noise, etc. can really dull the senses, and it has been said that the effect of just a couple beers while boating are equivalent to a six pack sitting at a bar or at home.
Have fun, enjoy in moderation or when you get to the dock, and be safe. |

In NJ it is exactly the same penalty for driving drunk on the water as it is on land.. Loss of license, fines, and possible jail time.
