I think I'll be sticking with the rude. I also called the seller and it didn't seem like they were in good condition anyway..

bought a nice pioneer ipod/mp3 ready receiver and set of clarion marine speakers yesterday

"2 85hp Mercury i4 outboards, both running, for 600$" sounded a bit "too good to be true" for decent motors.

Hope you get your boat running soon and that your stereo sounds good!

Me too..the boat was in surprisingly good condition for what I paid for it. Stringers, floor, and transom are solid!! The cuddy was a mess..the PO screwed 1x4s down as a sort of floor and the thick wool carpet on the sides will be coming off too.
Because I'm paranoid about old or improper wiring (longg ago boat fire...good story ) re-wiring everything, dual battery switch with charge isolator, fuse panel, etc. One 2,000gph pump(overkill, maybe!) for the aft bilge and one 800gph for forward of the gas tank, just in case. Andd bought Red LEDs for deck lighting from ScarabChris at thehulltruth.
I've been working on the engine whenever I'm home, last weekend I rebuilt carbs, fuel pump, new brushes on the starter, and cleaned up the heads, and re-painted the engine cover and decorated with OEM decals from Nanas on ebay. New piston, rings, water pump, and thermostat are next.

Aside, any idea what kind of fuel economy I should expect from the 140? WOT is probably around 14-15gph hopefully less cruising..
