I have a 1975 model v20, with a 20" notch for a main motor, and I'm guessing a spot on each side to mount a kicker. Well, the transom is rotten and I have the option now to put an aluminum cap over the whole thing, slide some 2x4s into the transom where the bolts go through and call it good.
This gives me the option also, of changing the main motor height to 25" if I want, also I'm raising on side to accommodate my XXL shaft kicker. Any suggestions? |

That sounds like a sketchy way to fix a transom. If its that bad you need to fix it right or risk losing both engines. I'm in the middle of gutting mine to do the arjay transom. Lots of work but it should be solid when done. Search the site for pourable transom and read up. Its a pretty good alternative to full transom repair or what your suggesting.

Thank God you are in CA, cause I won't have to help look for you when that boat sinks!
