I've been think about build one of those out of an old bed lift, how stable is it in the hitch? I noticed you have a safety strap on it, does it need it? or did you just have it there in case?

Spares - it leans pretty good. I wouldn't use it without a strap on a big motor. The plan is to drill some holes in the side and use cables and turn buckles. There are 2 turn buckles down low too on the mount. Overall it worked really well . . . way better than a cherry picker . . . just not as robust. I love that it swivels . . . This will definitely come in handy moving fish coolers for sure.

119 + $25ish for the step receiver all from harbor freight.

I was thinks maybe a tounge jack to support the bottom and stabilize it. When you don't need it, swing it out of the way

Spares - I think I am going to replace the orange angle piece with a 3ft length of box steel and have a tongue jack on each end to stabilize. Also . . . you could get a 2 or 3ft hitch extension and have better room to swing a motor 360degrees.
