You need a book on that thing.
The foot (correct name "gearcase") will need to be dropped. Remove the 4 visible bolts around the exterior above the cavitation plate, one located center of gearcase above propeller and one hidden behind the steering torque adjuster (trim tab), you got to remove it too. Also you have to disconnect the shift linkage rod located center just below the bottom carbs. If you go to the trouble to check it, just replace the entire water pump assembly.
