Default That mighta coulda been my boat...

Hey Blu,
That could have been her. I bought her last year off a guy in West Hartford. He had too many toys. I think she was around for only a couple years before that; it's a Florida boat that came up sometime after 2004. I keep her out at my mother's on Cape Cod (Woods Hole). When I first bought her I posted some pix and someone said they'd never seen the teal striping and details. I don't know. It's clear that her transom was redone, as was a lot of her both inside and out. The stripes and stickers were so cherry it makes me wonder if someone had all that done special.

It's definetly the eythenol. It's my understanding that since the vent system for a boat is different from a car the oxygen reacts with the eythenol and breaks it down faster, and water is a by-product. I've seen this a lot the past couple of years. No marinas here sell eythenol gas and there is only one mainland that sells E-Free. The only problems have been from the smaller boat guys that bring the jerry cans to fill up, ie-me!! Luckily, with the old Merc, I pretty much burn through it anyway, allthough I have recently started having some slight issues with idling and what-not.

Haven't read up enough on thie ethanol issue but it sounds like it may be worth refueling at marina with ethanol free gas even if it costs more?

Cool Ethanol Question

I know this is probably going to sound stupid, but how do you tell if the gas has ethanol in it? At all of the stations I check all over the pumps looking for some kind of sign if the gas has ethanol, and only found one station that had a little yellow sticker on one of the pumps that said "may contain up to % ethanol additive" I have not seen this label on any other pumps.....If I ask the attendant inside, they have no clue what I'm talking about...What's ehtanol?....We only have gas..........
Is it just in my area or is it like this in other areas??

Maybe I'll make this a new post......

Rabbit, they pretty much all have it. In SC they are required by law to post a sign on the pump. In NC, not so. I used to think I could get e free gas in NC before going to the beach until I learned about the law and asked around. It sucks but the good news is there are stations out there who have e free gas. You just have to find them.

HI guys,

Dont post much here but I am a regular lurker, I have a 1980 Formula 20 ft Cuddy with a 470 I/O, New floors, Stringers, Bulkheads and Fuel Tank, so I can relate to the V-20, and for the first time in my life I also had some E-10 problems. Check out the link below for some interesting info on E-10.
Thanks,
Butch
