Default 2004 Evinrude Ficht hesitation

Anyone running an Evinrude Ficht that may have had a similar problem? I have a 2004 150HP Ficht with approximately 75 hrs that has a severe hesitation between 2000-3000 RPMs. Feels like it is going to stall. It is flawless below 2000 and above 3000. The dealer had replaced the fuel pump and their certified OMC mechanic said there is nothing they can do. Hmmm, can't be. Any thoughts appreciated.

thanks

sounds like a bad ECM as most of those motors have had.

04's are pretty good, but most likely it's a problem in the EMM/ECM with the fuel mapping. A good BRP dealer can go in and correct it if it is that. And not many OMC mechanics understand the FICHT/DFI engines, and ESPESCIALLY not the 03+ BRP engines. Find somebody that actually knows the BRP DFI's and have them check it out for you.

Thanks guys. I'll have to talk to the mechanic again. He is certified with the FICHT/E-Tecs but I know he relies on my old mechanic that switched to Mercury. That guy knew his stuff. I thought of carbon issues, but since all is well at high and low speeds, I think you are on the right track with the EMM.

man if he has to refer to a mercury man, thats not good, j/k

it shouldt take long to see what map you have. they just need to plug it into the emm. You might want to call dfi technologies in orange beach, al. they know all the ins and outs of omc/brp ecu's emm's
