He should do ALOT better on milage, and also get a nice jump in performance. That old 235 was pushing barely 200 at the prop whereas the 225 is a solid 225+ at the prop. And the old 235 EARNED it's reputation as the 2 thirsty 5 RIGHTFULLY! OMC simply pumped more air and fuel into there 200 to get it up to 235 flywheel HP. This also included aggressive port timing and MASSIVE exhaust chest(the big bubble back).

Havent actually had it out on the water yet, just run on the earmuffs in the driveway but she sure does sound nice, changed the plugs & wires, lower unit gear oil,ran a can of seafoam through a portable 1 gallon tank and everything seems good,I am in the process of routing the cables and tach and a few other little things before putting it in the water. Maybe next weekend but who knows? And on top of that the 235 sold already !!

Default Question for you mechanics....

I have the 1998 175 Ocean pro and put it thru some paces this weekend. Ran about 45 gallons thru her.

Two issues: 1) Hard to start when warmed up. Found I had to set the advanced trottle lever all the way up, then back down to set the timing? advance. This seemed to work fine after many cough and choke attempts to start a warm engine. That and making sure the primer ball was pumped up. 2) When started, will not idle down. Checked the manual and there is no adjustment, contact the dealer? I know you guys have a better answer than that!

Overall, loved the boat. Got similar gas mileage to my older 1993 120 hp Evinrude on a much smaller and lighter boat. Runs 30 mph @ 3800 rpm fully loaded. WOT is 4900, 40 mph. Seems about right?
