Default Cruising speed

JJJtronics has posted a question about at what speed would he get the best fuel performance. This raised a question in my mind about what exactly is "cruising speed" or "cruise" that I see referenced all the time.

Being an AC mechanic ( not Abanicos y Cafeteras, "electric fans and coffee makers" ), I know it comes from "the most efficient cruising speed in terms of fuel usage", and it is related to Range. You know it is very important to AC and Boats because there are not too many gas stations in the air or the oceans, so the manufacturers use the term BEST RANGE at the Best Cruising Speed or Altitude.
For me it`s important because " I AM NOT RICH " !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, so a buck I don`t waste is a buck in my empty pocket.

Agreed. Its the most economical point at which the boat/motor combo runs. The fastest you can move while planed out without going over the edge of efficiency. To really figure it out you need a flowscan or other fuel management system but most have an idea of what their "cruising speed" should be.

If you ask me, gas price is up and down, month ago went down to around 2 bucks a gal from about 4 bucks a gal.
I am running with red 6 gal portable tanks, ( got sick with the water in the tank problem, so I cleaned it dry, filled it with regular air, and its now an anti sinking device ). Now I know exactly how much fuel is used/left, plus, I get about 50 cents/gal cheaper gas from the auto gas station, not the marina.
