Default Broke The Neutral Switch

Well as I stated in another thread I sold the V this weekend but I broke the neutral switch. I always had to bump the throttle foward some to get it to start so I wanted to adjust it before I put it up for sale. While trying to get it right it fell apart as the switch in the throttle control was brittle. I figured that the one on the motor would do the trick but it does not kill the motor at all. The motor is a 1994 johnson and can this switch on the motor be adjusted or could it just be bad. The controls are an old Morse and I cannot find the switch for that year and I don't want to spend too much fixing it. I could let it go as it is but I'm just not comfortable doing that knowing the hazard. Any help would be nice.

The one on the engine isn't a neatral safety switch, it's a shift interrupt switch to allow it to shift out of gear easier. Don't know what to tell you on the switch in the MORSE control though. You could disable it and let the new buyer make the decision wether he wants to fix it or not. Most all of mine have been disabled before I got em since they always seem to fail when you least want them to.

So its not uncommon for people to bypass the switch?

Nope, only one of my boats still has it on it. Just make sure he knows about it and let him know it can be fixed, but that's how it is for now.
