On my old 70s V20 I have a leak around the drain hole in the transom - I think it is leaking behind the metal tube (in back of it) and the boat is getting a fair amount of water in it that the bilge pump handles but it needs fixing. In the meantime - what kind of tape can I put over the hole on the outside of the transom that will be watertight and adhere to the fiberglass? Or should I see if i can get a disc to screw on there that has a screw-in plug? West Marine? Thanx G

remove the tube you have now, then after it drys a little coat with 5200 to seal the wood. Add the plug you mention with plenty of 5200.
or you can get a new tube like you have now. do the same as above but coat the tube with 5200 and slide in, run a bolt thur the tube with a washer on the other end and tighten snug, when dry remove bolt and you are all fixed. No tapr is going to help you!! and there is now water in the transom already, so stop the leak asap! good luck

I found a 7/8 in plug (screw in latch) and will see if it fits in from the outside and seals. I tried a 1 in but it was too big on outside
