I will be adding a kicker. I mounted this 10hp short shaft sea king on the transom to see how one would fit. It does fit well and the motors would not hit once the steering is connected. It appears the short shaft may work but it probably needs a 20" shaft. I will be looking for something about 20hp.

It was kept on a covered sling with a boat cover on it from 97 to 08. It was an old man's boat, who gave it to his son in law in 06. Apparently both took good care of it. Now I have to follow along. There is not a scratch on the bottom of the hull. I'll have to keep it out of the shallow water. I still haven't decided if I will refrain from beaching it. Guess I couldn't climb over the bow with it beached anyway.

Tomorrow will be the first trip. I loaded my boat junk into it yesterday and found good places for everything. The only thing I'm not sure of is the anchor rope. I haven't found a good place to store it.

It seems to work fine. Takeoff is fine with 5 people aboard. Top speed was 41 mph and cruise 32 mph at 4000 rpm. Holds good on plane to 22 mph. With 20mph winds the water was rather rough. It was a completely dry ride and rather smooth given the 2' chop. It needs trim tabs as it leans much and using the outboard to lower the bow for a smooth ride is inefficient. Hydraulic steering would also be nice but adjusting the little fin should make it acceptable with cable steering.
