|  Transom Issues... 
			
			First post.  Great site, looks like good people trying to help each other.  I happened upon the site in looking for transom repair info, and have read a great deal on old posts.  Good pics too.  Just got my 5th boat, was actually looking hard for a V20 dual console, but ran across an '88 proline 20 center console.  Transom needs work without a doubt, but in looking closer and shaking the engine while trimmed up, there is a slight flex, but not much, maybe 1/8" at the most.  The skin and liner are not cracked.  Thinking of running the boat until warmer weather arrives, then doing the pour method repair.  One thing I am concerned with is hopefully the inside "skin" doesn't have any holes.  The liner doesn't allow access to the inside of the transom.  I may cut a large section of the outside skin to better access the removal of wood and to plug holes, I am comfortable with doing small fiberglass work.  Also removing outside skin will hopefully allow an inspection of the ends of the stringers. The last post on transom repairs was a while back, would like to know how the transoms are holding up. Is there any epoxy pours, or are the Seacast, Arjay, etc all there is? I have always thought epoxy to be far superior to polyester base. Any and all comments appreciated. Mike (in SC) |

			AM Dew, glad you found the site. there is a lot of info on here, and probably the most helpful and friendly crowd of any boat website. i get tired of all the bs on cf.com(thats why I don't post on there a lot any more). As for the warning about Seacast on cf.com, its all in how well it was prepaired.

			Yes, this site has great info, and seems to be much more adult-like.  regarding my transom, I plan to run it and watch it, then when it warms up to fiberglassing temps, use the Arjay.  From what I gather, it looks like alot less money than Seacast, and didn't see anything negative. I used to post on CF several years back, but I think alot of the good posters left due to too many childlike posts. I feel bad asking the Wellcraft club to help me with my pro-line. Hey, my last boat was a wellcraft, and I looked long and hard for a 20' wellcraft dual, but all I could find was the 20' cuddy cabin, which doesn't fit what I need. Anyway, thanks again for putting me on to this place, I think I could rebuild a boat from scratch with the info floating around here. Tight lines............... |

			Welcome to the site!! All are welcome here and you are right if the kids come here we get rid of them fast! As for the Sea Ox comment, when Spare wants to stop playing with toy boats Skools and I will intro him to a real boat!!
