thanks for the replies... the old sea drive was a 1985 .. the mariner motor i picked up is a 1990.

i was not sure if some of the gauges were specific to engine manufacturer.

i see some just go with tach and volt meter ... others go with many more ..

why would the trim gauge not work ?... excuse my ignorance on this.

Outboard tachs work off of stator pulses for the magneto. Both the OMC and MERC/MARINER use a 12 pulse tach set-up. The trim guage is probably on a different resistance scale from your OMC to the MARINER. Also some of the OMC temp guages used a little resistor board on the back to work with generic temp senders, if you have one ditch it. I also don't like FARIA guages, and I'm not that fond of TELEFLEX tachs either. I have TELEFLEX guages in my HYDRA-SPORT, and NONE of them are correct.
