A 150 is a perfect match to these boats! But there are more then a few that run less if speed is not your game, their are a few that run 115's propped right that say they get great numbers, and someone else with a John/suzy 140 that gets 3 mpg.

What engine do you have now? I see you have 140 VRO listed, but that could be an 84 1/2 140 cross-flow gas hog. An 85+ 140 looper will actually get decent milage if it is in good tune and health. A 140 OMC looper should use roughly 8-10 GPH at a 4000 RPM cruise, and from others have posted should get you around 22-25 MPH. That would be close to 2.5-3 MPG for an old school 2 stroker.

I have the same questions about the Mileage on the 150 four strokes. I am planning on repowering and I am leaning towards the Yamaha. Does anyone out there have an f-150 and if so what is the miles per gallon and the miles per hour? I pieced my 1975 V-20 together and used a 1996 Johnson 225 Loop. Just as everyone has mentioned, it is too much power and I am getting on average of 2.0 mpg.

I don't recall anyone saying they are running a Yammi 150-4, but you can go on the Yamaha web site and look at their "Performance Bulletins". Just find a boat with a similar hull and weight and you should get a pretty good idea of what it will do on a V. http://www.yamaha-motor.com/outboard.../perfbull.aspx By the way, my Johnson 140 4-stroke gets 5 mpg and gives a top speed of 40 mph, I would think that the yammi 150 would do a little better on speed and maybe close on mpg.

The 150 YAMMI should do nicely on a V-20/21 I would think. They say they dyno close to 175HP consistently with them at the prop.

Thanks for the info. I checked the performance data on a Hydro-Sport 202 DC that had a test weight of 4,405lbs. Looks like top end was 40 mph (which is plenty) and 4 mpg at cruising speed (which is my main goal). Any idea if this weight would be consistent to a 1975 v-20 with an F-150? Also thanks for the greeting. I have been watching the site for the last 7 months and finally decided to get off of my behind and log on and become a full fledge member. I plan on posting some pictures soon.

I would think that is a pretty good comparison, the V may end up being a few hundred pounds lighter so you may get a little better on speed and mpg.
