Mine gets great reception for fishing and at all speeds. I siliconed it right in front of the stern bildge pump inside the hull.
To find the best location, we used a ziploc bag filled with water, and put the transducer on top with someone holding it while running (through the access hole in front of the outboard). Found the best spot to be about a foot in from the transom. A friend of mine suggested it and I had my doubts but it has kept up with all other fish finders when running boats are side by side. I was instructed to make sure there was no air bubbles in the silicone (or epoxy). The ziploc bag/water helped simulate this when looking for the perfect spot. |
