| Two problems please help!!!!

My first problem is if my boat sits up a few weeks or so when I go to crank it, it seems like pressure in the oil line is forcing too much oil into the motor and it smokes like crazy. Sometimes it cuts off it smokes so bad and I am scared it will screw the motor up. Will this hurt the motor or just foul the plugs over time? Could this be a VRO malfunction? The second thing is my throttle cables are getting stiff and hard to use so failure in the near future is imanent. I have replaced them on several other flat bottom boats but never on my V. Other than the old string line trick are their any other pro tips from you V experts? What size cables would I need for a 1994 Center Console V-20? Thanks a bunch in advance for any help you guys can give!!! |

What engine? Mine smoke like crazy after they sit for 3-4 weeks, and there all pre-mix. The problem is that most of the fuel in the float bowls evaporates from sitting, but oil doesn't evaporate. Hence when you fire it up again it smokes, the jets are basically sucking straight oil in them. This is why there is the 2 week rule, start the engine at least every 2 weeks and you won't have this problem. Also a good fuel stabilizer like PRI-G will help with the fuel evaporation problem I have found.

Just pop out the fishing pole storage insert in the side that you are rigging to and it's pretty easy to fish it thru.

the numbers on the cables, usually near one end or another, have the lenght written in inches as the last numbers try ebasicpower.com for replacement cables, the Teleflex red jacket 33c supreme are the best you can buy, but they are a little pricey. I've had good luck with Uflex X series bllue jacket, they aren't as nice as the Teleflex, but they work pretty good. |

Since it is a JOHNNY-RUDE, I would say evaporation is your problem with the smoking on start-up. My 2 do it, and there both pre-mix.

Might be a simple fix to just unplug the fuel line & run it dry at the end of the day, or doesn't that work with oil injection? I neutered my 200 merc years ago. I have done it for years & it prevents beaucoup problems. Doug
