I will admit that I am not a hunter; just never had it in my blood after I shot my first rabbit and it screamed and tried to run with just its front legs (back legs had been paralyzed by the shot). However, I truly respect the right of people to hunt, and admire those who do it well and with respect for nature. Terrific things you and your friend are doing with your sons. My bet is, Willy, that your sons will turn out to be wise and kind persons like you.

Man that is cool Willy. You know your hunting that is for sure. Thanks for sharing a great hunting story. Your boy is a lucky dude to have a dad like you.

Question - can you deep fry those like a regular turkey? I bet it would be delish!

Also, I'm thinking low and slow over wood coals would be the bomb! My fishing partner has em all over his property. He's hunted twice in the past 2 weeks. I sure hope he gets one so we can try out the smoker on it.

They have a much nicer flavor than farm raised turkey, much leaner meat too so you have to watch how you cook them.
One of the best ways I have found is to use something called roaster bags, basically they are designed to be used in an oven and they work well. You season your turkey breasts, put in carrots potatoes onions and maybe some lipton onion soup mix with some water and you cook them in the oven for whatever the time comes out to be for your size bird.
The flavor of the bird is something you really don't want to disguise with a lot of stuff, it really is quite delicious.
I would say the other really great way to have them is to marinate lighty and to smoke them very slowly. Almost a sexual experience to eat
