Juan, I have no idea on the 40hp numbers but with my 9.9 kicker I can get close to 7mph. You'll save alot of gas.
One thing I've always heard is there's only so fast your boat can go without planing. If the boat planes at 15 - 20 mph, and you know a 40 won't plane it (pretty safe bet), then my guess is your top end with the 40hp will be somewhere in the 10 - 12 mph range. Let us know how it works out. Blue
