Default Add Tilt to da Merc

Alright, in love with the new boat, BUT the 86 Merc has no trim/tilt..
It a 75, and would be a real pain in the keester to try and lift from inside the boat. It has a cyclnder already were the tilt would be, so I figured it could be a easy swap? Any ideas??

Sean,

I'm not sure if the power T&T would have been an external unit or not on an 86. That's about the time that they changed from an external to an internal unit. If it were me, being buddies with my merc dealer, I'd be poking around the yard looking for an old blown motor that I could rob the mid section from, give him a c-note for his troubles, and swap out the needed parts. Only problem is, you'd need to find a merc dealer who's been around awhile and doesn't throw anything away. I happen to have access to just such a guy.

That motor had an external pump unit. Sean. I'm going monday to look at a motor and the guys has lots and lots of old mercs and parts. Let me see what he might have.
