Default Ny Flounder

Does anyone know when NY flounder season starts this year? I heard they changed it again, but I am having problems finding the regulations online. Cant wait to get the V back in the water, but with it still being this cold up in NY, i need a damn good reason to prep it, trailer it, drop it in, and sit on it for 6 hours. Winds must be 25mph on land today.

Default no fluke possession???

am I reading it correctly? I hope that they just have not posted the limits yet. I am gonna start fileting on board if thats the case. I also heard through the grapevine that the limit is gonna be 20.5" this year. Recreational fishermen should march on Albany!!!

Default toadfish?

i dont even know what a toadfish is. I guess if they post rediculous limits, I will be fishing for skates, sea robins and seaweed this year. Better yet, ill just go out and try to catch a buzz.

If you are talking summer flounder, the new limits for 2008-2009 have not been finalized. Last season NY was supposed to have no closed season but in September they decided they had exceeded the quota so there was an emergency closure of the fluke fishery. What you see on that site reflects the current closed state. From what I've heard though, it may be tough times this season for NY water with 2 fish and 20 inches minimum......

hey nbt, they are toying with the idea of a 2 fish at 20.5 from may 15 to sept 1.
also toying with the idea of shutting it down for 09.
when i want dinner, i'll be at the recks fishing for seabass.

I like to fish offshore for weaks, or fluke in the bay. may have to fish blues this year just to get action without going offhsore.

i'll prolly just go out and ultra light blues all day.
