believe it or not, i have seen pics of kayaks with outriggers. I'm not quite that outgoing. i figured the three on the crate will work for general transportation, getting to and from the fishing spot. I plan to carry three rods when I fish, one with a cajun thunder rig, one with a jig, one with a bottom rig, that way I'm not trying to completely rerig everytime I try something different. the two fwd holders are for trolling, they are far enough fwd that the paddle won't hit them. the two aft were my first placement for trolling, but after talking to some other people, I decided the fwd ones will work better for trolling( you can see them without turning around). After I got the holders in place, I noticed the rods would be sitting low, probably getting the reels wet, by adding the pvc extentions, they get the rods high enough to keep them dry. It also provided a great place to set the paddle or the stake out pole( they have a saftey strap to prevent losing them). i know I'm hanging with the right crowd when no one questioned the two coolers on board. the aft cooler is for beverages( primarily Miller High Life Light), the fwd colaspable cooler is supposed to be for the fish i catch, but it could serve for beverages if in a bind. i had a blast rigging it out, can't wait to fish it, the reds are biting right now, but I'm too busy fixing other peoples boats, maybe one evening next week. i'm allready trying to figure out a rig to carry the yak on the V for those " way up the ICW' fishing spots. I'm working a trade for a 24 pontoon that will definately be the mother ship for yak trips on the Edisto, Cooper, Santee, Ashepoo, Cumbahee, Black, Lynches, or any other river within 50 miles( man, I like living down here!!!Did I mention the lakes also)

Good stuff spare. I've seen a pic somewhere of kayak saddles on a boat used as the mother ship to transport to the flats and fishy waters. I'll try to find it.

got my T-top guy working on an idea, figure we could use s-bars in the rod holders that would allow me to carry the yak on the side

No Stink. It's a LiquidLogic Manta Ray. The peddle powered Hobies are definately sweet. A lot more $$ though. I don't mind paddling and like the exercise.
