Default Fuel Tank Replacement

I have a 1990 center console that may need a fuel tank replacement. I found an oil residue in the bildge (pre-mix fuel) there was no gas but it could have evaporated leaving some of the oil?? I have also had a fuel odor at times during the season but never noticed fuel in the bildge. The fuel line is new and top of the tank appears to be dry. The original tank appears to be plastic, does anyone make a plastic tank that would be an easy refit, or will I have to have an aluminum tank made? Thanks

I'm not 100%,sure, but I think that all V's had an aluminum tank originally, you may be replacing a replacement.

As for a replacement, are you a broke SOB like most of us, in need of finding the cheapest thing that fits, or do you have the dough to get a nice new one made?

$$ aren't really the issue, if I have to have a tank made no problem....if I'm short of $ I'll have the wife get a 2nd job rather than miss fishing time. ;D ;D

You may not need a new tank. Fuel line could have leaked . I believe you can have the tank pressure tested. Billy Mac ;D

The tanks that WELLCRAFT used in the late 80's into the 90's specifically said no ethanol. I looked at an 86 that even had a warning sticker by the fuel fill saying no ethanol and that it had a poly tank in it.

look on ebay, there is currently a 60 gallon tank out of a V-20. It will give you and idea of its shape and size. I have removed (2) tanks from two different V's they are a pain in the arse.
