hey guys i have an 86 200 hp yamaha which i have a question about. while idling and up to about 2000 rpms the control box is making some sort of slight ringing sound to it. above 2000 rpms the bell goes out. could this be some sort of oil problem?

Sounds more of a wireing problem??
You have two alarms, one is beeping this means low oil, If there is no oil you will hear a boom and not have to worry about it anymore!! A solid alarm is over heating. There is nothing in between.

Could be an over heat alarm, when you get over 2000 rpms you may be pumping enough water to cool it off enough to turn off the alarm. I'd check your waterpump impeller!

i would check your alarm, sounds like its trying to work( indicating something is wrong) but is screwed up, ground out the temp switch on the engine while the key is on(not running), it should soound the alarm solid(it may take a few secs)
