I have never seen crabs steamed that way before. But it makes sence the spice would be on the meat and not just on the shell. Also never heard of boiling crabs till one day i went and caught some and my ex-mother-in-law said she would cook them. i gave them to her and walked away. Came back and she had them cooking in a pot full of water. I looked at her and asked " What the hell you doing to my crabs?" she said that's the way she has always cooked them. I prefer steamed.

know it's an old post but i am new here and just reading through them.

What part?

I am very surprised that you didn't know that all seafood
with shells get boiled.

Lived here all my life. always in anne arundel county. Right now i am about 12 minutes from the chesapeake bay bridge. i am 42 yrs old. never heard of boiling crabs till i was in my 20s.
I still prefer steamed.

12 minutes from the CBBT, then you are not far from the rest of us
that hang on the Delmarva.
MABHAMMER and I are up in Lewes,
C_Yensen and someone else are in OC,
and a couple of others.

I am guessing that cbbt stands for chesapeake bay bridge tunnel? I am not near that.
