Used to go the the Gator bar back in my younger days - it been a while. Don't know Van, sorry.

In a nut shell, many areas in the marsh faired ok from the storms, but many did not. The headlands took a beating and the flooding Rita caused in the west reall messed things up. The salt water was trapped by hwy 82 and just sat there. I took a float plane flight about three weeks after Rita over Cameron and Holly Beach (where they used to be), and the rotten vegetation smell from about 800' up was nasty. Everything is trying to rebound but it will never be the same. The Chandeleur Islands are damn near gone. Its really sad.

Repainting my motot this holiday weekend while waiting on my steering setup to arrive. I need to post some pics.

yep, chandeleur was bout toast b4 kat. thats where i fish mostly, around north light, in that area. over here she ripped a hole in ship island bout a mile and a half wide. and reduced the size of cat isle by about 30 %. smugglers cove is gone! but, from what i here baton rouge got the worst of it! has y'alls population realy doubled since katrina? it was crowded when i graduated lsu in 98!

Things have settled down. You talk about crowded - been to the northshore lately? Covington/Mandeville area is nuts.
