The squid are just about done here right now. Have a seasons worth in the freezer thanks to my friend pete, as I was only able to get out once with him this year.

Tautog are in nice and the Scup are starting there run right now. As is the Black Sea Bass.

Water is now in the 50's and the bass will be piling in any day!!

Mackrel will be doing there spring run for the next 3 weeks and then the Fluke should move in along with all the other fish in the ocean!!

Gee I can't wait to get the heck out of here!!

Rumer has it that the comm fleets out of NY & CT are getting some nice door matts ;D but RI season doesnt open to 5/18 *:-/
RI season is about the same... the squid will be gone by the New Moon and the Black Fish/Tataug are starting to be caught in good numbers up in the bays (there in spawn mode). We havent had a good spring run of Macks in years..
Watering @ the mouth!! ;D

by the way phes, and maco you should read this, this weeks fisherman goes on to discuss the earlier issue regarding the commercial fluke dragger on the cover.
it seems that virginias commercial bag for fluke is 10,000 lbs so what these draggers do is come up here (that boat showing 5,000 lbs of fish on the deck was pulling off the mass. coast) and wipe out our big fish stocks and proceed to steam down to virginia where they can sell their catch.
hell of a way to get around local bag limits.
they are destroying our fisheries and taking the catch where they can get the most out of it.
