Default Love/Hate relationship

My T-top. I love the rod holders, the spreader lights, the T-Bag for PFD's, protection from the weather, place for antennas.....Hate the way it gets in my way for fishing! I'm convinced I lost a few fluke the other day because of it! I got a few strikes at the top of my lift but no room to set the hook because the top is in the way! :( Not sure what to do??? It's a fairly bulky top. a smaller one would be better but would not give as much protection. I know I'll miss some of it's benefits if I get rid of it. Maybe I'll get more used to it and it will be less of a problem. It's only a problem when fishing from the sides of the console and aft. Unfortunately, most of my fishing occurs from that area unless I'm casting/fly fishing which is done from the bow, plenty of room up there.

Tin could you change your lift pattern to more horizontal. I've never fished for fluke just a guess from me. Bill mc ;D

Solution: Use cicle hooks. No need to set them. Braided line also allows you to set the hook with only a few inches of pole movement.

i feel ya bro, top serves two functions. protection, and get gear up out the way.so you can fish. problem is, if the top is in ur way now, would making it smaller realy help much. i always wanted a boat with a top but, never had one. so i dont know what to tell ya. probably a tough choice to get rid of it.sucks.

Wait till you try to flyfish with that thing on!! Get a sombrero and pull that T-Top off and sell it (unless you want radar).

I like 76GM's idea about a more stretch resistant line. I hear people talk about fireline. They say its some good stuff. I don't think its braid, but I don't know.

Circle hooks - never tried them on flounder. I like to rip their guts out on the hookset ;D Catch and release (into the grease).

Oh and I like msbhammer's advice too ;D

For my light inshore stuff I use the Power Pro and circle hooks, wokrs real well. But that top would get in the way for some, I had the CC with the bimini and that would present its own problems, even worse. I would have thought the hard top would have allowed you to fish around a lot better Tin. I'm surprised.
