Red velvet ant sting test
Due to a discussion on a hunting board Im on about the red velvet ant sting I decided to do an experiment.
I recruited a buddy (my future BIL) to help me out with the experiment. Here are the results....I injured the ant trying to grab him with tweezers. Oh i know, thats why I talked HIM into it.
They got at least a 1/4" stinger. We got to talking about it and just felt it "had" to be done.  It whelped up later about like any wasp sting but it wasnt to bad.

Yep we used to mess with them thinking they were just big ants. Glad i never grabbed one to find out differently!

My eight year old niece in Louisiana has one of those in a bottle. Nobody knew what it was. Mom is trying to get in touch with them now.
Stink be careful with them.
