That sounds pretty steep for that.
I am surprised that the service guy didn't cut you a break,
being Lewes Police.

Most of the service guys I know, usually have two or three
used ones sitting around that they will sell for a fraction of the cost.

Wow I hate to see a repair bill like that!!

I have eletric heat, Now before you all go on a OMG thing, I have never been happier then I am right now with the heat!!

1 no furnace to ever repair!!

2 Never have to wait for the Oil guy and hope I have enought cash to pay him!

3 Eletric has a thermostat in every room!

And there are like 10 baseboard heaters in this house, I have been here and I had a problem with just one, and all you do is take the screw holding it to the wall out, un do 2 wire screws and reinstall another.

And hey if you don't have the $60 for the new heater thats ok cause there are 9 others working just fine.

We only use the down stairs heaters in the kitchen Dinning and living rooms.

The heat rises up the stairs and there is no need for the heaters to be on up there. 10 years we have never used the one in the bathroom, or my bedroom. My daughter has 2 outside walls and has the coldest room, and she rarley turns the heat on unless we have a few days of singal numbers which we are having right now.

My eletric is cheaper then any house I had before that had gas, or oil, and had to pay 2 and some times 3 bills.

And if the power goes out for any leanth of time, I have my camper about 40 feet away with 2 full tanks of gas, w/ gas heat , gas stove, gas fridge, and full battery power to run the blower.

14.1* right ow out side and 68.4* inside :D

Glad to hear Baseboard heaters have progressed that much...the ones I had 20 yrs ago caused my power bill to be more than the rent I's payin' back then :o ...but the house wasn't well insulated either...see-thru walls ::) ...

Actually, electric heat is the most efficient.
I had the argument with my Vo-Tech teacher on this subject
and every argument I had, he shot holes in each and every one.

If your hose is insulated properly, all the heat from the elements is delivered inside the home.
Oil and gas burners send *usable heat up the flue with
the exhaust.

I even had the argument about the heat given off by the supply wires,
that heat is still inside the house.

MJ, have you ever figured how much you pay in extra electric
during the heating season?
I wonder how it compares to my $1500.00 to heat two houses?

I have never figuresd it out cause I am on the budget thing were the bill never changes all year.

Here on Cape Cod we pay the higest bills in the state!

I pay for a year $2900 for the eletric. That is for the heat, hot water, washer & dryer, dish washer, Stove, 2 fridges, bait frezzer, Air inthe summer, TV (4), computers (3), and all the other things that mke the house go round.

And with gas and oil think about the long term, maintance, repair, and replacement cost.

I love my eletric! :-*
