I have a 84 V20 with a 60 gallon aluminum tank. The engine is a 150 Yamaha 2 stroke. The tank was leaking so I siphoned the remaining gas and pulled the tank. This is how I got the old gas out .
I bought a Yamaha male gas line fitting like the one on the engine and attached a 6 foot length of fuel line to it. I could then snap it on the fuel line from the 60 gallon tank and pump the ball to start the siphon. My tank does not have an anti-siphon valve. My tank does have a shut-off valve at the fuel tank. I siphoned off the gas into gas cans and used the gas in my lawn mower. Worked great! I usually drink beer, not gas! I had a built-in live baitwell that I wasn't using that was just large enough to drop a 24 gallon permanent plastic Tempo tank into without alot of surgery. I am now using the 24 gallon tank as a spare tank and have increased my fuel capacity to 84 gallons. When I get around to it I will post pictures of this additional gas tank modification. Geek

Did it come out right away or when the tank was full?
The gas comes out of mine when the tank is full, that is how I know it is full. I have seen a plastic bottle that can be put over the vent to catch the overflow.

When it was full... I figured it was not a big deal, but wanted to make sure.
Thanks!

I try to prevent it from coming out by a) knowing about how much fuel I need to add and b) listening carefully for the gurgling noise when I'm approaching what I believe to be full tank range.

I agree, listen for the gugles.
The first couple of times I let the gas come out, then I read where if you get caught letting the gas in the water, CG could give you a fine.

You listen for the gurgles of the boiling water while you watch the toaster pop. ;D
